China going full Black Mirror 👀, Google positioning against abortion bans 🗑, and more!
Hola! Welcome to Augmented Rarity’s week 13! 💚
While some weeks are packed with news, this one is a bit more “relaxed”, yet still filled with interesting stories. Let’s begin 👇
Artificial Intelligence
China to be more dystopian than ever by developing an AI that uses biometrical data to determine how partisan of the regimen you are 👀. For now they are only testing it with over 40 party members, but yes, this means more governments creeping into many people's lives in invasive and totalitarian ways 🫠
Our lives are enhanced by technology, but it also keeps track of everything we do. Since American women have been denied the freedom of their bodies, Google is erasing all the related data so it can't be re-used against us in the future 🗑.
Extended Reality
Meta Quest no longer requires a Facebook account to log in 🤿. Remember when Meta bought Oculus and now people were forced to log into their facebook accounts to use their headsets? Well, that's over now.
With Nreal and Orange, Le Tour de France 🚴♀️ can now be viewed through Augmented Reality! It's a good strategy to get more people interested in the XR industry and… a demo of 5G since Orange is sponsoring it 🍊. Of course, this will only be appreciated by Nreal's headset owners.
Random stuff I wanted to tell you anyway
Cyberbulling could take you to jail! 🔒 In Japan.
If you haven't heard it 40 times already, here's another: Elon Musk will no longer buy Twitter 🐦
Dramaverse
No drama this week! Actually, I'm quite happy with how everything is going at the moment. I'm vlogging the process of re-learning electronics and going back the interaction design and creative tech path 🧑🎨👩🏻💻
Episode 2 of the LED crop top will be ready soon! Meanwhile make sure you watched the first one 👀
As always, thank you so much for reading, see you next Sunday!
Best,
Martina
