Meta's 2 new AI systems 🤖, Magic Leap 2 release date and price 🤑, and more! ✨

Hi again! 💚 I can't believe we're already at week 14 of Augmented Rarity, and that I haven't missed a single one! Let's get started 👇

If we thought Meta was just a Metaverse and social media company, we were mistaken. Here's how Meta is also getting into AI:

Sphere, Meta's new AI to detect fake news 📰, is being trained on Wikipedia, the largest free open source encyclopedia ever. Once Sphere is used on Facebook or Instagram, fake news will be more difficult to spread.
And since text to image prompts are trending (DALL·E 2, Midjourney, Google Imagen…), here’s Meta’s take: Make-A-Scene, a similar tool that emphasises the possibility of uploading an image to accompany your text prompt for AI-generated images, so you can have more creative control over them.

Magic Leap 2 launches on September 30th! …starting at $3,299 🥹. The current barrier to entry is too high, mainly because MR is not targeted to consumers but to enterprises, mostly focused on health care, defense and public sector, and manufacturing and industrial settings 💼. We'll have to wait for Apple or Meta to lower down the prices of MR headsets 👀

With the Meta x Rayban sunnies 🕶, you can use Whatsapp to send messages and make calls, something that apparently, was available already with Messenger last year. Honestly, I haven't purchased them yet because I haven't seen enough utility (for the same price you get meta quest 2), but if they keep adding integrations I may reconsider.

Nasa released the first images of Webb, its more advanced space telescope 🔭. Check out this comparison of Webb’s images and its predecesor Hubble, all the images are impressive 🥹

Nintendo plans to convert more video games into movies and television shows through its acquisition of Dynamo Pictures, a CG production company. In a short recap of videogames that got a film / show this year that I watched: Arcane was great and I can't wait to watch season 2 (available on Netflix), and Uncharted was similar to the game but was a letdown.
