Welcome back to Augmented Rarity! 👽 Today we have a different format 👀, shorter and easier to digest… all quite Metaverse related. Let’s start!
Meta’s first brick and mortar store 🏪
🔗 Meta wants to sell you the metaverse in its first brick-and-mortar store
From rate how hot 🔥 to massive social media platform to own huge market shares of Virtual Reality headsets 🥽 and a goal to build the Metaverse, Meta is pursuing a very interesting direction.
When real life is needed to promote the meta business you shouldn’t be concerned that the Metaverse will be here any soon… or will this actually help people see it as something more approachable? I guess that’s the whole point of this. Wondering what CX will they prepare for its flagship 🤩, for now the renders we can see in the article aren’t impressive at all :(
Selfie drones are back, apparently 🤳
Exactly when I thought the drone trend had peaked, Snap comes out with a drone I want to buy! Meet Pixy, this tiny drone camera that looks like a toy. It will be available only in France and the US. If you're interested, here's the landing page.
It's great to see Snap's focus shifting from social to gadgets, remember spectacles?! 🕶
It surprises me more to learn that people are still using Snapchat; it has 100 million more daily users than Twitter 😱. And speaking of Twitter... 👇
Elon to end spam bots on his new buy 💸
🔗 Here's how Elon Musk could change 'Crypto Twitter'
Or another billionaire buying our data 🎉. I would like to see social media without fake accounts (and fake following), but at what cost would he do it?
If only billionaires used some of their money to make this world a fairer place :) I know, I know, this was already answered by Elon a couple of years ago, but it’s still an unsolved problem 😒. And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Elon or the other tech villains 🦹♂️. This fourth wave of industrial revolution is being accelerated to an impressive pace thanks to that and I admire them.
And regarding how this transformation has to be… 👇
The declaration of an open and safe internet 🌐
🔗 The EU, US, and 32 other countries just announced a ‘Declaration for the Future of the Internet’
Of course many countries are not planning on signing this declaration because why would you let your citizens think freely huh 🤔
Anyway, here’s the list of countries that have committed to this and in case you want to read it, here’s it is (it’s only 3 pages so it’s not that dense!).
Wondering if this will stop the drama between European and American regulations 🤝
That was brief! 🤓
Thank you so much for reading, I’ll be back next week 💜
Regarding the launch of my Discord, it’s still in the making! Thank you to the ones that joined, will be notifying you here when it’s officially running 😎 In case you did’t join last week, here’s the link again!
Very informative.
Self drone would be dope but how would third world countries be carried along. Both drone and vr alike
Selfie drones - It definitely what we need. If it works as people expect it will wide areas for AR creators
