Using sound to 3D print 🔊, embedding holograms in the browser 🌐, and more! ✨
Welcome back to Augmented Rarity! 👽 I think I’m digging this new shorter format, so let’s begin! 👇
3D printing ears in under 10 minutes 🦻. The 3d printed bio implant was placed under the patient’s skin to reconstruct it and it was made of her own cells 😱
Using sound waves to 3d print 🔊, with the motivation to use ultrasound to create (and regenerate our cells) instead of only destruct (what’s already been used for procedures such as tumour removals). They are still not able to do so, but this could be the future of surgery 👩🏻⚕️
Another year without an AR or VR headset from Apple this WWDC🥽, even though they made some AR easter eggs to promote the event in an interactive way (can be accessed by opening the event page with an iPhone and tapping on the memojis), so maybe there will be some nice integrations coming. Anyway, watch the event tomorrow here 📺.
Embedding holograms in the internet 🌐 that can be viewed in any web browser as a way to make sure that all these 3D content that is already created is not losing its potential when showed in 2D (as for now).
“Imagine we’re in a parallel universe and every movie ever shot was shot in color, but every human being was watching in black and white. That’s the situation we’re in with 3D,” Frayne told The Verge.Ok this one is not that much related with anything, but I just found out that the Verge has a newsletter only dedicated to Elon’s udpates 👀. I subscribed 😂
And a personal update, I decided to vlog my design process! I’m beginning with an app that 3D scans objects so we can place them in the Metaverse as NFTs 🖼 instead of accumulating them in the real world because of nostalgia 📦. Do they have to be nostalgic objects? Not really, can be anything, but I wanted to talk about what it means to live a minimalistic life while having a large amount of digital clutter.
Here are the first 2 vlogs! In this one I walk you through my design process 👀
And in this other one we actually get started with it! 🖌
Thanks for reading 💜 Let me know what you think about this week’s selection! In the future I plan on doing some longer specials, but for now we'll stick to this digestible one, shall we?
See you next Sunday, have a great week!
Best,
Martina
